Online Food Handler Course Malaysia: How It Works

Online food handler course in Malaysia on Zoom, RM50 per person. See every step from booking, Zoom link and assessment to receiving your certificate.

Our online food handler course runs on Zoom as one session of about 3 hours, with a short assessment at the end. The fee is RM50 per person and you can join from anywhere in Malaysia. Your digital certificate can arrive as early as 4 hours after class. Here is every step, from booking to having the certificate in hand.

Why do so many people choose the online class?

An online class saves travel time, and you do not have to close your stall for the whole day. A cloud kitchen owner in Kuching and a school canteen helper in Kota Bharu can follow the same class from where they are. The certificate is the same one you would get from a face-to-face class.

How do I choose and book an online class?

Open the class schedule and pick an online class by date, time and a language you understand. Classes run in Bahasa Melayu, English, Mandarin or Tamil, depending on the schedule.

Enter each participant's details: full name as shown on the IC, IC number and phone number. Foreign workers can register with their passport number. Check the spelling of each name carefully, because that is the name printed on the certificate.

What payment methods do you accept?

You can pay online through the secure HitPay gateway using FPX online banking or a card. If you prefer, make a bank transfer and upload your proof of payment while booking.

Online payments are usually confirmed straight away. Bank transfers are checked by our team before the booking is confirmed. Companies that need an invoice can look at our corporate booking page.

When will I get the Zoom link?

The Zoom link is sent to the email and WhatsApp number you registered once your booking is confirmed. We also send reminders 2 days before class and again on the day itself, so there is little chance of forgetting.

If our email is not in your inbox, check the spam or promotions folder. Still nothing? WhatsApp us at 0125651067 and we will resend the link.

What device and internet connection do I need?

A smartphone, tablet or laptop with a camera and microphone is enough. Install the free Zoom app ahead of time and open it once before class day. A laptop is more comfortable, as the bigger screen makes the slides easier to read.

Use a stable connection, ideally WiFi or an unlimited data plan, because the class runs for about 3 hours. Charge your device fully or keep it near a charger. Find a quiet spot, since a noisy stall or a busy kitchen in the middle of service will pull your attention away.

What should I have ready before class starts?

  • The Zoom app, updated to the latest version.
  • Earphones, so you can hear the trainer clearly even with noise around you.
  • A pen and paper to note key points such as food storage temperatures.
  • A charger, and a comfortable seat for about 3 hours.

What happens on class day?

Log in to Zoom at least 10 minutes early. That time is used for name checks and to sort out audio or camera problems before the class starts. Change your Zoom display name to your full name as on your IC or passport so the trainer can identify you easily.

The trainer takes attendance several times during the class. Your camera needs to stay on for the whole session, just as if you were sitting in a classroom. Do not join while driving or while serving customers, because participants who are not fully present may not qualify for the certificate.

The content follows the KKM syllabus, covering personal hygiene, causes of food poisoning, correct food storage and premises cleanliness. The examples come from real work, such as keeping nasi lemak sambal safe or preparing dishes for a kenduri.

How does the assessment work?

At the end of the class there is a short assessment to check that you understood the basics. Questions are given in your class language, and the trainer explains how to answer before you begin. If you follow the class properly, you will find it manageable.

When will my certificate arrive?

For classes that end before 6pm, the digital certificate can arrive as early as 4 hours after class. Classes that end after 6pm receive it the next day. It is sent by email and WhatsApp.

The printed certificate is posted to your address free of charge. If you need it quickly, for example for a licence appointment with your local council (PBT), choose express delivery at checkout: within 3 working days, from RM10 depending on location.

Your certificate is recorded in the KKM FoSIM system and does not need renewal. Employers or PBT officers can check it on our certificate verification page using the QR code or certificate number. Remember that the typhoid injection is a separate requirement done at a clinic.

What if I cannot attend on the date I picked?

Each participant gets one free date change, as long as it is requested at least 7 working days before class. If you miss the class without telling us early, you will need to make a new booking. Medical emergencies or other acceptable reasons are reviewed case by case. Full details are in our cancellation and refund policy.
