Food Handler Course Terms: Attendance & Certificate
Food handler course terms: MyKad or passport, full attendance, Zoom camera rules, assessment, certificate timing, date changes and missed classes.
Last updated: 14 October 2026
These Course Terms explain what each participant needs to do to attend our Food Handler Training (Kursus Pengendali Makanan) and receive the certificate. They apply together with our Terms and Conditions and Cancellation & Refund Policy. The course follows the KKM syllabus, runs for about 3 hours in one session and ends with a short assessment.
1. Who can join
The course is open to anyone who handles food or plans to, from nasi lemak stall owners and kopitiam staff to home bakers, school canteen workers and hotel kitchen teams. Malaysians and foreign workers are both welcome.
Participants should be able to follow the class in the language they choose. Classes run in Bahasa Melayu, English, Mandarin or Tamil, depending on the schedule. Participants under 18 need consent from a parent or guardian.
2. Identification you need
Malaysians register with their MyKad number and foreign participants with their passport number. The name and number in the booking must match the document exactly. We may ask you to show your MyKad or passport during class to confirm your identity. Foreign workers can find more help on our foreign worker course page.
3. Full attendance is required
You must attend the full session to receive a certificate. A participant who leaves early or misses part of the class may not be marked as present and may need to make a new booking.
4. Online class rules
- Use a stable internet connection and a phone, tablet or laptop with a working camera and microphone.
- Join on time using the Zoom link we send you. Joining a few minutes early gives you time to fix any sound or camera problems.
- Stay visible on camera for the whole class. The trainer checks attendance during the session.
- Your name in Zoom must match the name in your booking, so we can mark your attendance correctly.
- Attend from a quiet place. Please do not join while driving or while serving customers at your stall.
Read how our online class works before your class day.
5. Joining late
A participant who joins more than 15 minutes late may be asked to rebook into another class, because the full syllabus must be covered for the certificate. In that case, the missed class rule in section 10 applies.
6. Assessment
There is a short assessment at the end of the class, and each participant must answer it on their own. A participant who does not pass will be guided by our trainer, and our team will arrange the retake.
7. When you get your certificate
For classes that end before 6pm, the digital certificate can be ready as early as 4 hours after the class. For classes that end after 6pm, it is sent the next day. We send it by email or WhatsApp.
Your training record is submitted to the KKM FoSIM system as required. The certificate does not need renewal, and anyone can check it on our certificate verification page using the QR code or certificate number.
8. Printed certificate and express delivery
We post the printed certificate free of charge to the address you give us. If you need it sooner, you can choose express delivery at checkout, which arrives within 3 working days and costs from RM10 depending on your location. Please give a full address with postcode and a phone number the courier can reach.
9. Checking your details
Each participant is responsible for checking that their name and MyKad or passport number are correct when booking. The certificate is issued using these details. If you notice a mistake after the certificate has been issued, contact our support team with your booking code and we will advise you on the correction.
10. Changing your class date and missed classes
Each participant may change their class date once for free, if the request reaches us at least 7 working days before the class. Send your request by WhatsApp or email with your booking code. In a group booking, each participant has their own free change.
If you miss your class without changing the date in advance, you will need to make a new booking. A medical emergency or other acceptable reason is reviewed case by case, so please send supporting documents such as a medical certificate. We send reminders 2 days before the class and on the day itself.
11. Physical class rules
The venue differs for each class and is shown on the class page and in your booking confirmation. Please arrive early, bring your MyKad or passport and follow the rules of the venue. Keep your phone on silent during the class.
12. Typhoid injection is separate
The course and certificate do not include the anti-typhoid injection. Under the regulations, food handlers also need this injection, which is done at a clinic and is usually valid for 3 years, so check the validity with your clinic. After some physical classes we can arrange an on-site injection. Contact us for details.
